When you need to cover larger areas than embroidery can, screen printing is a durable solution. A single print can cover up to the size of an A2 page (that’s the one that’s bigger than A3 and way bigger than A4!)
A digital transfer is a crafty technique, where a vinyl material is heat-pressed onto garments at 160 degrees. It’s the perfect process to transfer logos to hats, school bags, rain coats, spray jackets – and just about any garment you like.
For single-colour vinyls or those with multi-colour logos, we can do it all. When you need a cost-effective solution for smaller runs of garments and promotional products, this technique is for you. Digital transfers should last up to 80 washes, so long as you look after them!
Sublimation is the process of changing ink into a gas and then permeating it into fabric. Sounds complicated, but it’s awesome for sharp and detailed designs that won’t peel or fade.
This method doesn’t limit colours, logos, text, numbers or custom design, so allows for lots of creative freedom!
Sports uniforms like AFL jumpers, basketball kits, netball dresses, cycling outfits, field hockey and swimming gear are the perfect items for sublimation printing. Though, we can also print on soft shell jackets with fleece lining, training tracksuit tops and pants, wetsuits, hoodies and waterproof jackets – so you can sublimate your entire wardrobe!
Colour transference works best on 100% polyester-based fabrics, poly-spandex and lycra.

Brand New Technology
Direct To Garment Environmentally friendly Hybrid Printing
This brand new technology has put Thread Traders at the forefront of Garment printing in Australia. Having the only hybrid printing machine in Melbourne enables us to push the limits and achieve amazing results that were once thought impossible.
Using water based inks - this form of printing is reducing the garment decorating carbon footprint left by using plastisol inks. Hybrid printing is a mix between Screen and direct to garment printing, giving a print result that is not only picture perfect resolution but will withstand day to day wear and washing. The hybrid printing technique screen prints a layer of ink embedded into the fibres of the garment and then digitally printed at 300dpi (super high resolution) - and it’s not just for cotton garments - its ability to print on polyester sets it apart in the garment printing field. Hybrid printing also allows for bulk printing - with the ability to finish 400 fully printed garments per hour to get volume printing to our customers very quickly. This type of printing is perfect for high resolution and multi coloured images that traditional screen printing just can’t print. Being able to print an area of 38cm x 38cm on a garment can fill a whole t-shirt with print.
